Chidantan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Chidan Pond, Zhongzan Ox’farm, Batang County, Sichuan Province. It was named by the 3rd Regional Geological Survey Party under the Sichuan Geological Bureau in 1974.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone: White massive limestone, pink dolomitic limestone, pebble-bearing sandy slate, conglomeratic limestone and a small amount of basalt. Thickness is 358-434 m.

Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Bingfeng Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with Early Triassic Cigang Fm
Regional extent
Distributed in the area of Derong, Batang County, Sichuan Province

Fossils
Yields faunas commonly found to occur in the Wuchiaping Fm of South China, including Fusulinida such as Reichelina, Codonofusiella, Eoverbeekina, Nankinella, and Sphaerulina; Brachiopods such as Squamularia, Cancrinella, Crurithyris and Martinia; as well as Corals such as Liangshanophyllum, Waagenophyllum, etc., with no standard members of the faunas of the Changhsingian Stage having been found.
